Table Progress

found a train! I was originally planning to purchase an old O gauge locomotive from eBay but they are WAY too expensive to be used as terrain. They're also heavy and tough to paint because they're die cast metal.

Anyway a cool company called Sarissa Precision from the UK makes this baby:

I will add some 40K bits to make it more Imperial looking but I think the asthetic works nicely for something used by the Astra Militarum or even civilians. I got the engine/tender, three flat cars and a tank hauling car.

I also got a little more work done on the landing pad. I built the grey back up:

Epicast Landing Pad

You guys might have seen this huge chunk of foam sitting at Tony's place for the last couple of years.
Tony is making some space and I am building a new table so I planned to get it out of his way. In the process it dawned on me that this thing might not be the kitbashed/homemade variety of terrain we assumed. Making a huge mould and using expandable foam to make one piece of terrain just didn't seem plausible to me.

I googled the hell out of it this week with no success. Tony said he would post it to the 40k forums and see if anyone might recognize it. Tony got some great feedback from those folks and we learned it was very old, rare and special.

I took a close look at the photos and noticed the name EPICAST stamped next to one of the doors. That was the piece of info I needed! Epicast was one of a small handful of companies pre-dating Forge World who were licensed to make resin kits based on Games Workshop IP.

This piece is called, simply the Epicast Landing Pad. From what we can learn online it's quite rare and was used in Games Workshop stores as a centerpiece for their gaming tables and modeling displays.

Tony urged me to keep it and paint it. So below is the first in process pic. It's been primed and washed black so far.

Legio XIII

Here is a small update, got started on the support structure for Legio XIII. Base reds are down, brought "Yellow" areas up to a very light gray before starting the layers of yellow, Metallics are basedcoated and need to be washed/highlighted.

Forgeworld order

Anyone for a FW order? Thanks to brexit the value of the pound is dropping so I'm thinking now may be the time to but.

Call for bits

Hi All,
I am making a table for my house. I have a 4'x8' realm of battle on the way. It's already snow based so I am sticking with that. The theme of the table is going to be an abandoned promethium pipeline. I am planning to have a largely intact Manufactorum, several Pipe Relay kits, the new Container set, some snowy trees but most importantly I want to kitbash a train!

I have a base train picked out but I need stuff to 40k it up. If anyone has bits they can share, please post here. Pics if possible. I am looking for Imperial or Mechanicum stuff like Aquilas, skulls, lamps, censers, antennae, etc.

World Eaters Cortus Contemptor Talon

They're done! Some commentary on the paint/markings.

Tyler's army is from just before Betrayer. So the heresy is on but these guys aren't all "Blood for the Blood God!!" just yet. However they are pretty close so I worked in some larger red elements. This also feeds into the second important design choice which is the "mishmashed" look.

Cortus Contemptors are cheaply, quickly made with little consideration for the marine or the quality of the finished dreadnought. They're described as being pieced together from scavenged parts and battlefield wrecks.

World Eaters part 3

Colors are blocked in. Done batch painting now. I will do metals and details one by one before changing back to weather them by batch. Oh and yes, there will be blood.

World Eaters Cortus Contemptor Talon

For Tyler, obviously. I am pretty happy with the variety I was able to create with some good posing. Priming, washing and basing yet tonight.
