Base test!
So I've been working on some bases for the boys from Nocturn. Let me know which you like more or if you have any suggestions.
I think the stone works well, but I think you need a sharper contrast to really give a "glow" effect. keep building up that yellow a little more in the center, or "hot spots", the hotter it is, the brighter it is, Lava is going to cool more where it contacts "The ground", I would use the following.
Edges that are contacting the stones - Khorne Red Slightly in from that - Mephiston Red Slightly in from that - Troll Slayer Orange (or a dark orange) Slightly in from that - Fire Dragon Bright very center or "hot spots" - Yriel Yellow
You can accomplish this with different colors, these were just the examples I could think of and similar to what I used to create flame effect on Chris' LotD. the coats should be thin to allow the previous color to show through, You can paint the entire area with each color and just leaving the "darker" color towards the edges, etc... I could probably give you a quick "tutorial" if you really wanted.
I think the easiest way to do it on them would be to put down yellow and then wash them with the gw orange wash then just go back and highlight the yellow.
