8th edition Orcs vs Guard

First 8th edition game for me.

Tim and I played a 75 power level game last night. I was surprised how well balanced it was with the power level total, despite how vague it seems compared to points. We only played 3 rounds and called it a draw but I'm sure if it went on I would have savaged the rest of his army.

I love vehicles in this edition and not having the vehicle damage chart, before it kinda felt like they were made out of glass unless it was AV 14. Having all the special rules on the profiles right in front of you was awesome, although the new index was sectioned like shit. Shooting and melee rolling seems a little too simplified (I miss templates).

Overall I enjoyed it. They took away a lot of the rule lawyering and it played a lot quicker after I got all the new mechanics down. Woulda posted a couple pictures but this app freaks out when I try to load one.

This brings Tyler to a "talon" of Ork Dreads. I am beginning to pity his first opponent for 8ed Orks.

Definitely the oldest model I have ever painted! Awesome vintage Ork Deff Dread from Tyler's collection.

Ork Halftrakk

This was a really fun model. Simple to build but a TON of flash. It took me 90 mins just to clean it all off.

"20 years of collecting Orks"

Tyler has asked me to get his Ork army ready for 8th edition. Considering the size and scope of the project; I thought it was fitting to document it all.

To start, I wentt through each model individually to make sure they didn't need to be stripped. Many of them did (a couple dozen infantry) and they're currently soaking in Simple Green.

Now I am beginning the tedious process of dusting (yes, dusting) each model so that it can be primed black. Word to the wise, don't leave your models sitting out to gather dust.

I'm starting on Deffkoptas and Trukks today while we wait for 32mm bases to arrive.
